Black Cat Linux is written by two members of the Donbass LUG.

It features Ukrainian and Russian Language support, a Redhat base, and many security fixes.

 
This distribution is designed to work both as an internet server or a workstation or even a home multimedia system.


It comes with various software packages, such as GNOME, KDE, and Netscape Communicator. Also included is support for Truetype Crillic fonts for system use and also for applications such as StarOffice. 

Black Cat Linux 6.02 is based on a 2.2.11 kernel, and includes all Redhat security fixes up to date. This is the first release on CD-ROM.

In March 2001 ASPLinux and Black Cat Linux Team, developers of the popular in Russia and CIS Linux distrubution, merged. ASPLinux company headquarters are located in Moscow.
